Big Apple All Day Subway Photo Safari : Metropolitan Museum/ Central Park Full-day Photo Safari. Available Dates:June 4,5,11,12, 18,19 ( weekdays available ) Start time: 10 am. Ends at 530 pm at Central Park South We meet at the information desk in the Lobby of the MET Museum What to bring : Art Pad on Notebook for sketching..5x7 inches size of a steno pad. 2 sharpen HB pencils, two pens, DSLR, one wide angle lens, one telephoto and one prime lens. Subjects covered: Creative composition using rule of thirds, leading lines, and frame within a frame, Composition variations shooting landscape - shooting horizontal, verticals, diagonals, high & low camera angles, eye level angles. Composition techniques using different focal lengths with the same subject matter ( from wide angle, normal, telephoto ). Variations of over and underexposure of different scenes to create emotion ( high key, low key lighting ). Creative use of shadows in your composition using the art principles of repetition, contrast, and balance. This is a full-day digital photography workshop for beginners. We start with a 90-minute orientation at the Sculpture Garden on the 2nd floor of the MET.. You learn the basics of photography: lighting, exposure, and composition. I will teach you to throw the book away and just start using the controls on your new Nikon or Canon DSLR. You will learn to use only three camera settings: manual, aperture priority, and shutter priority. Also you will know how to adjust your ISO (film speed, shutter speed,and aperture ) to maximize image quality. At the Metropolitan museum we will shoot interior photography, architecture, and flash photography. I will also teach the creative part of photography lighting & composition. You will learn from the Master Painters, Picasso, Matisse and how they use the powers of observation and important art principles to create timeless masterpieces of art. We will have a sketching session at one of the art galleries to study the effects of lighting & perspective . We will have lunch at the Met Museum Cafe and your afternoon session will be spent shooting the technical & creative concepts I taught you at the museum. We will be shooting an exposure and lighting assignment all over Central Park North. Photography subjects covered: portraits on location, landscape photography, closeups, architecture. I will show you how to master your digital camera complicated features to get the best exposure and composition for any kind of image. Be prepared to do a lot of walking and bring water, snacks, and a jacket in case the weather turns cold.Just as a precaution, please be aware of your surroundings at all times and keep your camera bag close to your body. Even better just bring a regular backpack. And don't forget to bring extra memory cards and batteries. You don't want to missed any Kodak moments. See ya guys in the big apple.

Here's a partial outline. 1) How to organize your files on your MAC and PC ? 2) Deciding when to shoot for JPEGS or RAW files ? 3) What program to use to speed up organizing and basic cleanup? Photoshop Elements and Photoshop CS 4) How to resize images for print, web, and email usage. Print images need to be resize to 300 dpi. How to organize the files for each category. 5) Basic and advance color correction . Using both auto levels, auto contrast, auto color and also adjusting color manually. 6) Work faster using keyboard shortcuts when using photoshop commands versus using the mouse. 7) How to clean up unwanted elements such as spots, moles, dirt using clone tool , healing brush, etc. A good example of unwanted elements is the dirt spots on highlights from a dirty sensor. Be sure to clean your UV filters on your lens and turn on the clean sensor on your digital camera to minimize those annoying dark specks ( or white specks ) that shows up on your image. 8) How to set up with layers to make rapid changes. Layers help you create multiple images and add text to your photography. Create business cards, brochures. posters with this amazing Photoshop tool. 9) Learn how to use filters to make boring images exciting and dramatic. 10) Learn how to convert color to black and white. There are many ways to do black and white conversions. Our photo tours are a lot of fun and informative.
