Krav Maga San Diego Pics and Videos : Krav Maga - san Diego

What is Krav Maga ? Interview with Boaz, Krav Maga instructor from New York City:

Question :
Friends of mine in California always ask me if Krav Maga is a mixed martial arts system. What would be your answer to that one?
Boaz :
This question is as if someone asked you if Yin and Yang is the electricity that you get from Con Edison. The question is if every system is the same since
it is taught by a human being to a human being who both are made form the same elements. The question is if an attacker got kicked with a karate kick or a soccer kick...
Martial Arts is a generic description of a system that deals with combat. Mixed martial arts meaning you take salt and pepper and mix them for cooking.
The more specific question is if Immi that was trained in Wrestling, Boxing and Jujitsu mixed them all and created Krav Maga, or the question is whether
Eli Avikzar that acquired a black belts in Judo before he got a black belt from immi, and Aikido after, mixed Aikido and Judo with the Krav Maga he learned from Immi.
The next question is if Darren Levine mixed Bas Ruten style Wrestling with the Krav Maga he learned. We see many new systems are results of someone that have
learned more than one system. People used to fight from the cave man to ancient civilizations and it was never documented how they did it then.
While everything is different, Krav Maga is an approach.
When Darren Levine contracted Bus Ruten to teach form him grappling, his approach was to contract someone to fill in the missing part he never got a chance to learn in Krav Maga.
Daren just did not spend enough time in the right program to train in that. Hanging out with old Immi that kept finding students to train with Darren, no one kept track of his training,
and while Immi was anxious to open a school in California, Darren got a black belt without meeting the minimum requirements.
The approach of Krav Maga to ground fighting is very different. While the student is advised of all other martial arts techniques, he learns to prevail in any possible feasible situation
on the ground by attacking available pressure point with very little manipulation of shifting of body weight to counter the opponent's body weight. The approach in Krav Maga is
teaching of three principles for ground fighting: If you are on the ground, you avoid getting chocked of punched, and you have 2 seconds for the whole maneuver.
You push or hit a pressure point available at the opponent's face head or groin area, and you get out. This seems to work countering all available Judo techniques, and some
of the Wrestling techniques. What it does not counter is those wrestling techniques where you let your opponent twist your leg behind your back and try to get out of it when you are locked up.
It can be compared to when you let someone tie you up with a rope and being behind you so you cannot even bite him. You only have 2 seconds to react. These techniques take more than
two seconds to accomplish, so you would have had plenty of time to be out of there if you were not passive.
The advantage of Krav Maga is that it is the most complete efficient self defense training system. All the others whether geared to sports or non sports have very non intelligent training
components. Most of the people that originally developed them while at times famous scholars or athletes, had no common sense. If you see a tiger fight and a monkey fight in different styles,
instead of concluding you should learn both styles, you should conclude that they have different styles because the have different anatomy.

The answers are no for the first and yes for the second.

Martial Arts and sports knowledge was considered by Immi and Eli in developing Krav Maga. Sports Martial arts was the starting point for Immi, and Krav Maga was the starting point for Eli.
Aikido Judo Jujitso Boxing and you name it some of them are Sports Martial Arts and some Non Sports Martial Arts. Some of them have kicks and some of them have punches, and some
of them have grappling, and some of them have few ingredients and some of them have all.

Subject: Re: Shalom boaz. I am a visiting from san diego. I am looking for a krav maga studio in manhattan

Hi Elle,
I generally teach intensive seminars to organized groups and private individuals. I recommend three sessions of three hours each to master self defense level , and 21 hours in total to
master expert level in the technique. To become instructors one needs to acquire teaching and safety in training skills. In the IDF it takes about 80 hours to acquire these skills.
I am in the process of completing a book which I believe will surpass in its content and completion any book ever written about Hand to Hand Combat including Krav Maga and
other sports martial arts and non sport martial arts. I do not own a studio, and I just offer my teaching skills.
I do not think I personally know Dana. Eyal was a student of Eli Avikzar in his private civilian Dojo. Eli Avikzar was Immi's successor in the IDF. They both did 20 years each.
I was Eli's successor at the IDF. I was teaching for Eli in his civilian gym in the evenings for free, and was offered to get tested for belts in the civilian association.
It was easy comparing to the instructor's course in the IDF.

When I was at the IDF, I was meeting with Immi at his old age on the weekends for coffee and a conversation.
Eyal started to do this when I l left Israel and then started to follow Immi. Eli Avikzar when retired from the IDF became the head of the rank committee in the Civilian Association,
and because Immi was giving ranks without his approval for example to Darren Levine, Eli, left the association and called his system Krav Magen to differentiate.
Krav Magen at the time was more similar to the IDF Krav Maga. Haim Gidon was a student of Eli Avikzar and taught for him for free at his civilian gym and then decided to go
with Immi and open his own school There were few black belts from Immi's civilian schools Haim Zoot for example, and others.
Civilain Krav Maga was a two week military curriculum taught in a martial arts style dojo system. Civilian Instructors were geared to teach in a Dojo environment.
I am telling you all this as a background so you would know that with all these nice people mentioned, I have my own opinions about quality control. I ofter get an international student that spent few years in a school somewhere and spend three hours with him on the basics like hand strikes basic kicks and defenses. They usually say that they have learned more with me in three hours than they have learned in the past two years. That is ok because I've felt that when I've spend one hour with at the time the assistant IDF Chief Instructor to Eli Avikzar, I've felt that i've learned in that hour more than in my 7 years of Martial Arts prior experience. I've felt that it was previously a waste of time. I'm not sure what you have in mind, but I think if would be nice meeting you. When are you planning to be in NY?

Triad of Health Website : Dr. Skolnikoff, a San Francisco native, lives and practices in San Rafael, California in close proximity to his family. Dr. Ilya Skolnikoff is a licensed chiropractor and a certified Professional Applied Kinesiologist. Dr. Skolnikoff became interested in chiropractic, acupuncture and healing in 1994 after having worked for an environmental and health company for many years and suffering from burn out, toxicity, and poor dietary habits. Through his work with environmental and health concerns Dr. Skolnikoff was able to meet numerous chiropractors and other health care professionals. Dr. Skolnikoff received chiropractic care that was so effective that his health and energy were completely restored. With the dramatic improvement that Dr. Skolnikoff experienced in his health came a fascination with chiropractic. Dr. Skolnikoff was also impressed with the level of happiness that had been attained by many of the chiropractors from whom he received treatment. Dr. Skolnikoff did his undergraduate training at UCLA where he received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree. This degree would later be able to help him to learn of the little talked about "Art and Science of Chiropractic." In order to prepare for chiropractic school he then fulfilled the courses in prerequisite basic sciences at The Cleveland College of Chiropractic, New College of California and Santa Monica Community College. After learning a strong "medical science" perspective of chiropractic at Southern California University of Health Sciences in Southern California for 2 years, he then transferred to Life Chiropractic College West in Hayward, California where he was able to learn more of the "art" of chiropractic. Dr. Skolnikoff has always taken his chiropractic education very seriously not only by focusing on his graduate school studies but also by taking post graduate education courses one or two weekends a month for the last 6 years. He realized early in his career that the only way that he could repay the chiropractors that had helped him with his return to health was if he could one day do the same for others.
	Philosophy
Dr. Skolnikoff’s professional interests lie in helping people to get the very most out of life. With a father who is a psychiatrist and a brother who is a marriage and family therapist, the health field had a strong appeal to Dr. Skolnikoff early on. In addition to his graduate school training, Dr. Skolnikoff spent thousands of hours studying cutting edge diagnostic systems of health care such as Professional Applied Kinesiology and Total Body Modification as well as emotional techniques such as Neuro Emotional Technique, Emotional Recall Technique and Encoded Memmory Technique. Additionally, Dr. Skolnikoff has been studying nutrition and herbs extensively since 1991 and has had formal training in herbs and acupuncture at the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Southern California for over a year and a half as well. Unlike other doctors of chiropractic who believe that the patient must get adjusted several times per week to remain healthy, Dr. Skolnikoff believes that by balancing the function of the 650 muscles in the body, that the 210 bones have a much better chance of staying aligned and therefore need less frequent adjustments. Dr. Skolnikoff believes that he is succeeding when the majority of his patients need to come into the office at most only once or twice a month after their first 4 or 5 office visits.

Night Abstractions - San Diego : Samples of my latest experimentations on San Diego Night Abstractions. My objective is not to come out with sharp colorful photos of interesting subjects at night. Abstraction as used in art refers ro art unconcerned with the literal depiction of things from the visible world. In philosophical terms, abstraction is the thought process wherein ideas are distanced from object. Abstraction uses a strategy of simplification, wherein formerly concrete details are left ambiguous, vague, or undefined. Also things that do not exist at any particular place or time are considered abstract.

Hey...Canon body owners...There is a $ 200 adaptor for using Nikon lenses on Canon bodies
but not the other way around. The only disadvantages is that it will not allow VR,
auto focus, and auto aperture prioritt. But it has AF confirmation mode and will meter
all Nikon lenses to Canon bodies.
